Join the INWA WORLD CUP in Lahemaa (Estonia)
A hidden pearl to all the Nordic Walking enthusiasts
For the first time in history a NORDIC-WALKING WORLD CUP will take place in Estonia. This country is one of the greenest countries in the world and has many more surprises to offer.
Estonian Nordic-Walking World Cup will be held on 7th of July 2019 in collaboration with The International Nordic Walking Federation (INWA). The World Cup is joint with the oldest Nordic-Walking marathon in Estonia, 12th Lahemaa Marathon.
Lahemaa Marathon takes place on the territory of Lahemaa National Park along beautiful forest trails. Most of the track is flat, but there are also some steeper ups and downs. The World Cup will be held on 10 and 21 km distances for competitive walkers. There will also be a 42 km distance for non-competitve walkers.
Forest delights of Lahemaa National Park
Lahemaa is one of the oldest national park in Estonia and one of the biggest forest protection areas in Europe. You will have a possibility to experience rich natural and cultural legacy while walking through ancient forests and and along prestine rivers.
Many winding pine forest trails will follow the river Valgejõgi and its romantic canyon valley. You will see Nõmmeveski waterfall with the ruins of the hydroelectric power station. So in addition to physical exercising Lahemaa World Cup will provide amazing refreshment for your spirit and soul.
It is worth to visit Lahemaa a little longer because it is a perfect place for hiking and sightseeing – you can see stony and sandy seashores, fishing villages, picturesque bogs, forests, lakes and streams. There is also a spectacular Viru bog, which is equipped with a modern boardwalk.
Fill your body with fresh air and unique memories
If you arrive to the World Cup at least a day earlier, you will have an amazing oppurtunity to be a part of one of the biggest traditional cultural event of Estonia. On 6th and 7th of July The Estonian Song Festival will be held in the capital city Tallinn. It is one of the largest amateur choral events in the world, a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
This year it will mark the 150th anniversary of the first nationwide song festival, now held every five years. The accompanying dance celebration will take place for the 20th time. These massive folk gatherings, involving thousands of colourfully dressed performers from all over Estonia and abroad, have helped to define nation’s spirit ever since the days of the first celebration in 1869.
It´s definitely worth to look around Tallinn, too. Estonia’s capital is the best preserved medieval city in Northern Europe. Tallinn is a perfect mix of new and old. City’s business centre with luxurious hotels and large shopping centres are just a stone’s throw away from its stunning old town and historical sites.
And of course, there is so much to discover in Estonia´s nature. About half of Estonia’s territory is covered with forests and natural landscapes. Untouched nature, mysterious bogs, picturesque coastline, romantic coastal villages, interesting abandoned objects, centuries-old landscapes with majestic manor architecture and so on – Estonia has a lot to offer.
Come and fill your lungs with fresh air in Estonia´s prestine nature and take part in the Nordic-Walking World Cup that will be held on 7th of July 2019.
