On April 29, 2023, the INWA Nordic Walking World Cup Mielno – POLAND competition took place. The event was attended by 160 competitors. They competed at 3 distances: 21.1 km, 10 km, and 5 km. There was very fierce competition between the top riders. New time records were set, accompanied by great emotions. The route of the competition had a varied surface.
Starting from the start, it was led along the seaside promenade. Then the narrow streets and the dunes led the competitors to the sandy beach. More experienced competitors remembering from previous years struggled on the route in Mielno chose a paved strip of beach running close to the water, where the ground was not so loose. After an exhausting stretch on the beach of about 1.5 km, the competitors entered the forest through the dunes to eat and quench their thirst at the nutritional point (the second nutritional point was located near the start/finish). After a while, the forest path turned into an asphalt road, and the competitors headed toward the finish line or started the next lap. After the end of the competition, there was time for Mini Nordic Walking performed by children at a distance of 400 m. In the end, the decoration of the awarded participants of the World Cup took place. During the competition, there were further qualifiers for the National Team Polish. The whole competition was under the patronage of INWA.
All procedures and rules have been conducted in accordance with the guidelines contained in INWA regulations. Route measurement and marking were certified.
