Dear Nordic Walking lovers,
Second World Cup event of the International Nordic Walking Federation INWA started today on the 8th of July in Ledu, Qinghai province of China. Today the distance was 10 km and competition categories were: Men/Women under 39 years and Men/Women over 39 years. In these classes there were altogether 200 participants from 18 different nations. In addition there were also recreational classes for Nordic Walkers and walkers without timing totalling 800 participants.
Chinese Nordic Walkers pretty much controlled the top positions of the World Cup but there were also some good performances from other countries. Marti Soosaar from Estonia finished 6th (time 1:03:41) in the men’s 39+ age category. In the women’s category under 39 years Lucy Binfield from U.K. was 7th and Tara Karihtala from Finland was 8th. The fastest time by the winner of the men’s class was 0:57:22. Surface of the track was asphalt.
Tomorrow on Sunday the World Cup will move to Guide in Qinghai and the distance will be 21 km.
