INWA PRESS RELEASE 20-8-2021:
According to the recent decision of the International Nordic Walking Federation (INWA), the Polish Nordic Walking Association (PZNW) has been granted the rights to organize the World Nordic Walking Championships 2022 in Poland.
Aki Karihtala – President of INWA: INWA is the largest federation in the world with member organisations in over 20 countries. We have been organizing for many years the INWA Nordic Walking World Cup-series and now we have reached the point, where we also want to introduce the Nordic Walking World Championships to the global Nordic Walking community. We will organise our first World Championships in 2022 in co-operation with our member organisation, Polish Nordic Walking Association (PZNW) in Poland. I have personally seen, how professionally competitions have been organised by the team associated with the PZNW in Poland and for this reason we at INWA have decided to grant the rights for Poland to host this competition. In addition, this event will also support the development of Nordic Walking in Poland. Nordic Walking competitions are becoming more and more popular and they also encourage younger generations to participate in this great sport. In Poland alone there are about 200 Nordic Walking competitions per year.
Arkadiusz Kozak – President of the PZNW: For over a decade, our team has been creating market standards related to the Nordic walking discipline in terms of organisational, refereeing and competition aspects. The Polish Nordic walking community is extremely large, active and creative. It is safe to say that Nordic walking is our national sport.
Thanks to the cooperation with INWA, it will be possible to combine our many years of know-how with international contacts provided by INWA. This event will host participants, coaches, judges, instructors and Nordic walking fans from 30 countries around the world.
Details about the place and time of the INWA Nordic Walking World Championships will be released soon.
